'America's Got Talent' Sets Season 17 Filming Dates, Confirms Celebrity Cast

America’s Got Talent announces filming dates for the upcoming season 17 auditions. Even though filming begins on April 1, this is no April fools day joke. The listing for the audience confirms that Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara will return to the series.

AGT Returns in Summer 2022

It’s finally time for America’s Got Talent fans to contain their excitement. With filming dates in April, it seems like this series is expected to return this summer. Filming for AGT season 17 begins on April 1 and concludes on April 10. The live event will once again be held at The Fabulous Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

Differing from last season, COVID-19 protocols have completely changed. Audience members no longer have to test, wear a mask, or provide proof of vaccination status. Any person can be in attendance of the live audience, as long as they’re over the age of eight.

Season 16 began filming at The Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Sunday, March 28, 2021. Even though the upcoming season of the series doesn’t begin filming in March, we can still expect the series to return this summer. It’s possible that the premiere date of the series will be delayed due to the taping starting later.

NBC Has Yet To Confirm Judges

With auditions beginning to film in April, it seems like AGT season 17 is on track for a summer 2022 premiere. The live audience listing confirms that the beloved judges and host will return for the upcoming season. This is the first confirmation in relation to the celebrity judges and hosts. Although the listing confirms the celebrities, NBC has yet to confirm it themselves.

The judges and host were set in stone by the end of February, so it’s strange that the network hasn’t confirmed them yet. I think this could be due to the fact that the judges have been busy in the months leading up to auditions.

Cowell recently returned to the United Kingdom to work on Britain’s Got Talent, while Mandel worked on the reboot of Canada’s Got Talent. Vergara has been filming her upcoming Netflix miniseries, Griselda, in Los Angeles, and Heidi Klum has been promoting her song “Chai Tea with Heidi,” as well as appearing on Germany’s Next Top Model. Both Cowell and Crews have appeared on the AGT spin off series, AGT: Extreme in the past four weeks.

Prior to this announcement, America’s Got Talent had been posting videos of Dustin Tavella sharing the dates of last minute season 17 auditions. According to Tavella’s video, March 5 was the last day to audition for the upcoming series. Even though in person auditions begin soon, online submissions are still open until April 10 at 11:59 p.m. PST.
